An impressive journey into the world of salt awaits you in the depths of the mountain. The mine train takes you 650m into the mountain, where the first slide is already waiting for you.

The second slide connects the magical salt room, in which the miners' everyday working life is shown, and the mirror lake, over which you travel on a raft with a fascinating laser show.
Arrival by public transport is also possible without any problems. The bus line 840 from Berchtesgaden via Marktschellenberg to Salzburg and back goes directly to our bus stop "Salzbergwerk".
Old Salt Works Bad Reichenhall - Educational Excursion Near Salzburg
The guided tour of the old salt works in Bad Reichenhall takes you on a journey back in time. On a guided tour through the extensive tunnel system, you will immerse yourself in the fascinating world of salt production. The Old Salt Works can be easily reached by any means of transportation. It is 130 km from Munich, 23 km from Salzburg and Berchtesgaden is only 20 km from the Alte Saline Bad Reichenhall. There is an hourly train from Munich to Salzburg main station via Freilassing. If you get off in Freilassing, you can take the regional train to Berchtesgaden and get off at the station "Bad Reichenhall - Kirchberg" and walk to the Old Salt Works in about 5 minutes.
The house of mountains is an exciting nature park center in Berchtesgaden. On 17,000m² you will experience a triad of information center, education center and outdoor area. The award-winning exhibition "Vertical Wilderness", interactive information about the protected area, a cinema in the foyer with nature films, changing exhibitions on two levels and a themed library are waiting to be discovered by you.
You can reach the Haus der Berge by car via the A8 Munich-Salzburg highway, via the A10 Salzburg-Villach highway or via the A1 Salzburg-Vienna highway.
The Haus der Berge can be reached from the salt mine via the brine pipeline path in approx. 60 minutes on foot.
Adelsheim Castle: Sightseeing Near Salzburg With the Family
Adelsheim Castle Museum in Berchtesgaden is one of the most important folklore museums in Bavaria. In 13 rooms on an exhibition area of 600m², visitors can learn interesting facts about the life of the people in the land between Watzmann and Untersberg. The museum's collection focuses on the Berchtesgadener War: classic craftsmanship in the form of artistically painted chip boxes, colorful wooden toys, rough carvings, flutes, figures of saints and nativity scenes and filigree carvings.
