The perfect group trip

It’s that time of year again. The annual club or company outing is coming up, and you're still looking for the perfect day trip. Of course, the trip should be a highlight for young and old alike, fun for everyone, and stay within budget.

That's why I’m taking you on a day trip deep into the Berchtesgaden Salt Mine and high up to Mount Jenner – an excursion that combines all these aspects and will leave everyone with fond memories.

Let's go
up the mountain and into the mountain

We’ll start at 10:00 a.m. at the Berchtesgaden Salt Mine – you can find detailed directions here. Of course, you can customize the schedule when making your booking. Once the bus is parked at the designated parking area, the group heads straight to the cloakroom, where each visitor receives an overall to protect their clothing. Don’t worry – the overalls are available in all sizes, and backpacks or bags can be stored in lockers or simply left on the bus. Once everyone has changed into their stylish miner’s overalls, it’s time to hop on the mine train for a group photo. After coordinating with the photo team, you’ll receive a picture of the whole group – and then it’s off into the underground world of the miners.

Slide Fun in the Berchtesgaden Salt Mine

In addition to the miners' slides, the Mirror Lake and the mine train, you can expect interesting facts about mining and salt extraction in the Berchtesgaden salt mine.Since the visit lasts about 1.5 hours, you can make a reservation for lunch at 12:00 noon.If you want to save time, you can make a reservation for the group directly at the Restaurant Bergschänke (opposite the ticket office of the salt mine) and choose a menu in advance.

We are heading up high

The ride to the Jennerbahn valley station is done with your own bus. The distance from the Salt Mine to the Jennerbahn is about 9 kilometers. However, since heavy traffic is expected on the roads during summer, I recommend planning about 30 minutes for the drive and the ascent with the Jennerbahn.

At the station, you’ll just need to exchange the ticket you received at the Berchtesgaden Salt Mine for a Jennerbahn ticket at the counter – and then the group is ready to head up the mountain. After a scenic 20-minute cable car ride in comfortable 10-person cabins, you’ll enjoy a panoramic view of the Berchtesgaden Alps and Lake Königssee.

Breathtaking views and
culinary highlights

Once at the top, you have the option of taking a short hike (about 15 minutes) to the summit cross or exploring further hiking trails around Mount Jenner.

If you prefer a more relaxed experience, the Jenneralm is the perfect place to stop – true to the motto 'Enjoy with a view!' Including a break, you should plan about 2 hours here.

Afterwards, the group takes the cable car back down to the valley station.

And Here Is The Best Part:

Even after your day's programme, Berchtesgaden still offers unique opportunities to round off the evening.
