A school trip in summer or a team event at Christmas time? The Berchtesgaden Salt Mine is open all year round. The practical thing about it: It is a constant 12 °C in the mine. This makes you independent of the weather and lets you plan your group excursion better in advance.

Important: The Berchtesgaden Salt Mine can only be booked as part of a one-hour guided tour. Please book your desired tour well in advance.

Arrival by train The Berchtesgaden railway station is only about 1.4 km away from the Berchtesgaden Salt Mine. From there, you can easily reach the salt mine via a footpath with a walking time of about 30 minutes. Or you can use the bus connection with Line 840 from Berchtesgaden train station, which will take you to our "Salzbergwerk" stop in about 5 minutes. For more information about Regional Transport Oberbayern GmbH, please visit their website.TIP: Take advantage of the affordable BGL day ticket for bus and train. You will receive a 10% discount when presenting your ticket at the ticket office.You can find information about train connections on the website of the German railway.For groups travelling to Berchtesgaden by train, we recommend the Bayernticket. Arrival by bus Take line 840 and you will arrive at our bus stop "Salzbergwerk" after about 5 min from the Berchtesgaden train station. From there it is only a 250-metre walk to the visitor entrance. Line 840 Berchtesgaden – Marktschellenberg – Salzburg and back.

Arrival by car Guests travelling to the Berchtesgaden Salt Mine by private car will be guided to our salt mine by the existing road signs. The Berchtesgaden Salt Mine has plenty of parking spaces, and you can also pay there by contactless NFC or by mobile phone. Group tours are available for groups of 20 or more. On request, you can also book an exclusive tour for your group (up to 50 people) with no other participants. Here you can find all the information you need about the Berchtesgaden Salt Mine to help you plan your group excursion.

To ensure maximum safety, we ask you to consider the following points: Photography and filming are not permitted during the tour due to safety reasons. Please do not lean out while riding the mine train. Please follow our simple safety instructions on site before sliding. Please make sure your overalls are closed and do not take any backpacks with you.

Your booked date in the Berchtesgaden Salt Mine is binding. If you are late or miss your tour, unfortunately your ticket or reservation will also be forfeited. For a relaxed experience, we recommend you to be at the entrance of the gallery at least 15 minutes before the tour starts. This leaves you plenty of time to get dressed.

Yes, the visitors' car park is located at Salzburger Str. 24, 83471 Berchtesgaden. This car park is charged and operated by Contipark. Directly in front of the cash desk of the salt mine, in Bergwerkstr. 83, 83471 Berchtesgaden there are also about four free bus parking spaces next to the road.
